Better late than never. For our own records, but also as a potential resource for other bicycle tourers/travellers, the following posts are (will be) a write-up of our two-week return tour to Brisbane in September 2023.
It had been over a year since we finished Indipac, so it was well and truly time to dust off the frame bags and get ourselves back out there before we skidded into the end of another year. We don’t always have to do epic trips, plus it’s great to explore parts of our own country on two-wheels.
Some kind of Northern NSW/Gold Coast/Brisbane tour had been on the drawing board for a few years. It’s both to be able to say we’ve done it – ie. ‘we rode from home to Brisbane. And back :)’, but also, we get to go see all three daughters who live there.
As usual, I spent hours planning/revising/researching our route. With accommodation availability not really back to pre-covid levels (or prices), I pre-booked pretty much every night – so we had a set itinerary to stick to. That’s always a bit of a risky thing to do, but we were lucky with the weather.
Since we had our TwoUp Facebook page from Indipac, we kind of blogged as we went on that, so anyone who who followed at the time might want to pass on this, but I will endeavour to expand on details.
I am tempted to write them all as drafts and dump post them all when I’ve finished, but maybe trickle posting is the go. Giving myself a short time frame goal, because after this I have a 2024, 2,500km European odyssey to document!
